Extreme Cold Weather Alert

February 12, 2021 11:18 AM

As a result of the extreme cold weather system event, ERCOT anticipates significant high load starting today through early next week. These conditions make it more likely that the ERCOT region may experience a power emergency.  While we do not expect system wide outages, the southern and eastern areas of the HCEC system my see temporary outages due to overloads or icing.  This will be more prevalent during the thawing early next week.  There has not been a public appeal for conservation yet, but HCEC would like for members to be aware of their energy usage and be proactive at helping keep the lights on.
